My Enclosure To Be

So after stalking craigslist and facebook marketplace since I ordered my printer in March. If finally found the perfect 3d printer enclosure! This was a display case from a mall that was going out of business. I was able to get this entire thing for $80! it weighs upwards to 200 lbs and the acrylic dome is 6mm thick and almost 38 inches H x W x D. My next step will be cutting a door in it along with some fan vents. There is also 8mm thick acrylic sides on the metal base and 1 shelf. I feel like I couldn't of found a better base to start from (for the price).

I just wanted to share while i wait for my printer to come!

Very nice ! You could store spools of filament in the lower section.

Yep! Im actually thinking about enclosing the bottom section and somehow rigging it up to be anti-humidity storage for open spools. I would LOVE to make it so I can just run my spools from there but I dont know how that will run pulling from the bottom to the printer. Id imagine it would struggle vs a top feed system.

Re: My Enclosure To Be

I need to start a campaign to put a local mall out of business, maybe rumours of plague in the toilets ?

Hopefully because they are concentrating on fulfilling printer orders 🙄

I would like a car to go with my next printer, hopefully PR can ship one in the same container. 😆

If you check their DIY IKEA enclosure they released on their blog they explain it would cost the consumer too much for them to make one. So they released those plans so we could make our own.
