Octoprint/RPi Zero 2 running extruder fan while idle

Hi all - Following the regular Prusa instructions with a RPi Zero W 2, was able to get octoprint up and running with very little trouble and very happy with the set up on my MK3S+, with one exception - the extruder fan runs seemingly top speed at all times. My previous experience was that, upon turning on the printer, the fan would spin up momentarily, then go quiet again until I started preheating or initiated a print. Now the extruder fan comes on when I turn the printer on, and never turns off. The poor printer sounds like it's anxious while it's sitting there idling.

Any ideas how I can get it back to the fan turning off when the printer is idle? Have I goofed an octoprint setting, or likely something else?

*** it's the hot end fan that won't quit.

Most likely cause is a poor connection or a failing thermistor.

Cheerio,
