Octoprint Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Hello to everyone, I'm a new user of Original Prusa MK3 I3 and bought recently a raspberry Pi 3 B+ (I know that most of the people here wants to use the raspberry 0 W like this has less hassle for the alimentation problems and is more a compact solutiotion) I would like to know if with a smal conversion of a micro usb cable it's possible to get the alimentation directly from the RAMBo hardware. And the other question is about if anyone knows any good attachment point for the case of the Raspberry Pi, I saw already threadholes on the square frame watching from behind on the top right part (just above the RAMBo case) is it already design for that?
Thank you in advance and happy printing to all
Giuseppe

It's better to separate one electronics parts from other / maintenance, cooling etc. So check this out:

Re: Octoprint Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Thank you Piotr!
I saw that project on thingiverse, I can start from that because actually I have an old usb webcam that I tear a part and I want to use that instead spend other money to purchase the raspberry one, but it's really cool project and like you said I want to keep it out from the RAMBo case the raspberry I was just wondering if cutting a USB phone charger cable and attached fast connector to take power from the RAMBo board was possible and if someone had my same idea. I'm not an electronic engineer but I know how to use a tester to check voltages and amps but I didn't had the time yet to do my test, just wanted to know if I could end up to burn a fuse with too much consumption of power from the heating bed (or other source) power connection.
In any case I thank you a lot for your suggestions.

Re: Octoprint Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Pi B3+ needs at least 2A, I heard that the Prusa PSU it's not super power effective. I didn't want to risk, so I'm using external PSU for Pi. All devices are plugged to power strip and one button turns on all of them.

Next thing, if You thinking about live stream(control/timelapses), you will be needing source of light or two (shadow reduction).

I bought something like that:

those are for 12V so, they needs another power supply, but they are so tiny but gives tons of light :]

Last thing
Pi Cam, it's the worst part of system, low image quality, fixed focus, wrong white balance and short angles, on the other hand, low dimensions, and cost (below 5$) and that's why I bought it...

Thank you for your reply Piotr! I didn't know that about amperes... The fact was iwas trying to avoid to have loads of cables and plugs... I don't have a "fix station" for my prusa... I have to move it around and I would like to avoid to move every time loads of things and cables. Thanks anyway!

Oh that is a pretty nice improvement! I have just to figure out how design all the cases on cad and print them out xD
Thank you so much! You helped me a lot! 😉

What's that thing on your extruder? Some kind of heat sink?
