OctoPi need cooling
Raspberry Pi Model 4B running OctoPi
If used only for a TouchUI for general printer tasks, as well as OctoLapse, does the Pi really need additional heatsinks or cooling fans, or are you running yours without?

RE: OctoPi need cooling
A heatsink and/or fan is not mandatory for the RPI 4B. If it starts to get too warm, it will throttle the clock rate, which will affect performance. It could also shorten its life. But since a 3B is more then enough for octopi, you'll probably be ok. Make sure there is plenty of air circulation so the heat can get out.
RE: OctoPi need cooling
I run my Pi4 with heat sinks and a cooling fan. Cheap insurance.
