Thanks Paul,

So basically if I print small and detailed, stick with the standard mosquito, which WILL also print larger, just not as fast as a magnum can.

If I routinely print large with nozzle sizes 0.4 and above, then the speed increase will be a real benefit.

I haven't got mine yet (it's "in the mail"), but that's how I understand it.  I finally ordered mine after I received their response to the same question as you raised.

I debating which way to go but in the end chose the standard model.  I'd love to push a higher volume of plastic to gain the speed promised by the Magnum.  But I just wasn't convinced that's the right way to go for my purposes.  I'd prefer to give up a little speed with the intent of retaining the best resolution and detail possible.  We'll see how it turns out once I get it installed on the Bear project I"m working on.

It's a shame that copper block on the magnum can't move up and down along the filament tube in effect increasing / decreasing the melt zone.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

Forum times out too quickly on edits.....

I was going to add, that it looks like it may be possible to simply swap the heat break from underneath without removal of the heat sink / mounting frame, if your heater cartridge and thermistor are plug-gable, it's just two screws, drop the heater block out complete with heat break, and unscrew the magnum parts and screw in the standard mosquito parts and re-assemble.

Fan shroud clearing Magnum is a problem, but bunnies cobbled a remix of the RHD air nozzle. New shroud is now in the Mosquito Kit

Hi,

I'm using a Mosquito HotEnd (not Magnum) with Stock extruder. (Waiting for the ordered BMG-M)
I'm really happy because no jams anymore but I think the prusa slicer profile needs some tuneing.

Did you change something in the profiles compared to the stock HotEnd?

Hi,

I am not sure everyone is aware of the new upgrade kit produced by bondtech specifically for the mosquito hotend on Prusa Mk2.5s and Mk3s machines.  https://www.bondtech.se/en/product/prusa-i3-mk3s-mosquito-extruder-upgrade/

Best Regards, Doug Sanqunetti
