RE: MK3S Mosquito integration
@christoph-e5
They also sell a knockoff of the Mosquito. I have a real Magnum and a Knock off regular. They print great. I use the socks and they also work well. 5 thumbs up.

RE: MK3S Mosquito integration
The cloned Mosquito also adds a clamped arrangement for the heater cartridge. I am not a fan of the original's loose fit, but pack the gap with boron nitride scheme. On my original Mosquito, I tighten the gap with a brass shim.
I really like the clone's clamping screw. You can still use the boron nitride as thermal compound, and gain the ability to reduce the gap.
Your clone is working well?
RE: MK3S Mosquito integration
Have a link to the clone? I don’t see it on TL
RE: MK3S Mosquito integration
The one I found was not by TL, but rather "Mellow"

Don't know if this is the same that Charles is testing.

I have been printing with these for 4 months or so. They work as well as the E3D in my book.

RE: MK3S Mosquito integration
You mean the slice engineering correct? Might have to give a try
RE: MK3S Mosquito integration
@charles-h13 which thermistor do you use with the mosquito clone? Original slice or something different?

I ordered one off AliExpress - not sure of which one.

Thanks - I got a clone of the "Magnum" to compare to the original. I'll be interested to see what the Heat Break Insulator is like as I've always broken the genuine slice one.
I'd also ordered the socks on the weekend after stumbling across them.

This is the heater I ordered:

That leaves just an equivalent high temp thermistor to find. Not much point doing a Mosquito (clone) without also installing a thermistor that can tolerate high temps.
Those TL socks say 290C. My Permatex Copper is supposed to be good to 371C

Let us know how that heater works out. I have to say the AliExpress page looks really good...

😀we are posting at near same
RE: MK3S Mosquito integration
BTW, you cannot solder to the leads of the Slice Engineering thermistor. I discovered that when I clipped off the connector of my original.
Had to do crimp connections. I don't recommend that unless you have good, small pin, crimping tools.
RE: MK3S Mosquito integration
JST XH connectors big enough - or need something else? I just got set up to make hundreds of those...
And what do you do with the heater cable?

Mmmm that is almost enough to give PEEK another go....

RE: MK3S Mosquito integration
Mmmm my Mosquito Magnum (sans heat shield) has started to leak somewhere around the heat break / hot block (will disassemble once the print finishes). Has been fine for months. Anyone else had issues?
Thanks
