MK3 PSU Upgrade Housing for Mean Well

Hi All! I'm new to Prusa printers (and this forum).

I've had my MK3 for a little over a week and was forced to change the stock power supply. I decided to go with a Mean Well which required a new housing/bracket. I wanted to post a link to it in case someone else has issues with there power supply and needs to upgrade it: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3082178

How does it perform temperature-wise? I'm considering perhaps getting this and fixing something that would make it into a power brick. That would require printing an enclosure that encompasses all of it, with holes of course. Does it look like the PSU could take it or do you think it needs the passive cooling from its metal box in addition to the fan?

Personally, I'd advise against that. There is a lot of engineering that goes into these power supplies including the thermal conductivity of their housing. A plastic housing would not dissipate the heat resulting in a potential fire hazard. Just my 2 cents...

I like this design but I use the lack enclosure. I would like to see it enclosed on all sides and a way to mount it to an enclosure.

Re: MK3 PSU Upgrade Housing for Mean Well

I have a LACK enclosure as well and made some modifications to mount the Meanwell PSU below it. Here are the additional parts https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tc7jdisuuobsc7c/AACKDEYKIIal83QJEU5eBeUha?dl=1

There are two pieces, a bottom (so PSU is enclosed) and a support bracket for mounting. It's fairly straight forward. The screw holes that were previously screwed to the extrusion get mounted to the LACK table leg. On mine if you are facing the enclosure opening, the PSU is on the back left corner with the power switch facing forward. The support goes on the top of the PSU and screws to bottom of LACK table for support the weight of the PSU. I don't have any pictures, however if you need I can post some when I get home from work tonight.

My goal when mounting this was to not have to redo the whip coming off of the PSU, so I also have a feedthrough design I used which can be downloaded as part of my LACK LCD relocation files here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3236512 If placed right, the power wires don't need to be redone and it looks a lot cleaner as you don't have wires wrapping around the outside of your enclosure.

Here is a couple of pictures (cover and support parts in red). Don't forget to replace your power supply with a frame brace https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2859884

Let me know if I can help with anything else.
