MK3 essential mods

Hi everyone!

After debating on whether I should upgrade my MK2 or just get me an MK3, i have finally pulled the trigger and ordered the MK3.

-Any essential mods/add-on/parts I should print/prepare before her arrival?

-Any specific part of the assembly I should pay extra care?

-Would you put a raspberry pi zero on it or connect a raspberry pi via USB?

Thank you all 😉

Most common essential is to get more Haribos. They are always short like after mid of assembly.

All of them. But cable guide for the extruder and the bed is IMHO the most underrated step. It feels so simple and it works most of the time for the first prints but the consequences of the broken cables are always most time consuming.

Highly depends what you want to achieve.

I'm an inexperienced n00b, but mine (assembled by Prusa) has worked great and not needed anything.

Clean that PEI sheet REALLY well 😆

I have read that you lose some features like power fail and collision detection if you print via Octo. Not sure how true it is, but I haven't found using SD cards onerous enough to bother yet (I did have a spare NEST camera sitting around that I setup to watch the printer for me).

Oh, that's bad news. What if i print from the SD card but use octoprint to "monitor"?

That should be correct. Your raspi will initiate new connection which leads to a controller reset. And your raspi will not be able to remember the last position of the gcode.

That should be fine. Mine is always connected and last MMU print from SD card with two power outages survived pretty good.
