MK3 and Pi Zero2W

I'm trying to setup a Pi Zero 2w on my MK3 with no success.

When I plug the Pi Zero in, and turn on the printer, the menu freezes and the screen shows scrolling squares and it then shows a full screen of squares.

Does anyone know what's happening ?

The connections on the Pi look fine, and I can boot the Pi externally while connected to a screen.

How's the Pi connected? I assume you're trying to run Octoprint? I run several Zero 2w with my Mk3s for years now.

If you want to plug the Pi directly into the Rambo-Board, you have to activate the Raspberry-Pi port via the setup menu first. Printer's LCD menu -> Settings -> RPi port, see here.

The Pi is connected directly to the board via the pins method.

I tried activating the Pi port.

I first tried with the Pi plugged in. But the menu froze before I could do anything.

I then tried changing the settings first, then plugging in the Pi, but that didn't work either.

Both time I got the screen full of squares.

Did you do the steps to configure the port on the pi described at the end of this page here? I mean the part starting with "Using SSH". Best do this with the Pi powered separately and not connected to the printer board. Those instructions are for OctoPrint though. I can find no mention of extra steps needed on the Pi for PrusaLink/PrusaConnect. I never tried this but there are user reports that it is working.
Did you check that you soldered the pins correctly as in the instructions?

I did everything mentioned in the instructions. No luck.

I also tried the Pi externally with a power supply and monitor. It worked fine and I could log into Octoprint from my laptop, and adjust the bed level using the Prusa Leveling addon.

There's nothing unusual about the connection.

It's just plugged into the back of the Rambo board.

I've connected externally via usb, but there's no room in the case to connect via usb.

A pictuee of the connection will help I'd say there is something up with he connection. Did it do it when connected via usb

I flashed the OctoPi image file using the pi imager.

I might try the old Prusa version and see what happens.

Ah OK try flash prusalink if that boots and the printer accepts it then it's something to do with Octoprint but flashing prusa link will confirm the setup

Flashed prusalink.

Plugged in the pi.

The printer didn't complain, and I can change settings.

So it looks like it was Octoprint.

I'll try re flashing a clean install and see how that goes.
