Looking for advice on 0.6n with wide extrusion vs 0.8n with normal extrusion width

As the title says, i'm looking for advice...

I have a mini+ with a 0.6n that works really well for most parts i make (95% functional parts) i usually use a 0.3 speed or 0.4 draft profiles with default settings.

Prints PLA, PETG and ABS with generic  filament profiles.

Now i have also built my mk3s+ kit i got for blackfriday.

I wonder if it would benefit printwise with a 0.8n with mostly default settings, vs a 0.6n with wider extrusion widths.

I design most of the parts i need myself, and i take into account printability, asembing etc when creating.

I must say that I find the speed gains from 0.6 to 0.8 usually more impressive than moving from 0.4 to 0.6, in particular if you optimize for Maximum Volumetric Speed. Obviously it depends on your model. But if you have large models in which the print head has enough distance to really speed up, the 0.8 nozzle really shines—and it's fun to watch the indicator on my x axis spin around like crazy.

Plus, nozzles cost next to nothing (unless you go for tungsten carbide, which of course you should 🙂) so giving it a try to see how it works for you seems a no-brainer.

I infact have several 0.6 and 0.8 alreay i got for my mini.

I make signs for rooms and parking-spaces, so i stuck it out with a 0.6 for text-resolution.

But with the larger printarea on the mk3 i found myself going back and forth.

I think i'm gonna go with the 0.8, just the standard one. So far i have not ventured into abrasives, and most likely will not for the forseeable future.

The ABS/ASA i use works great for our machines at work as well.

Thanks.

Oh, and btw, which X-parts are wise to keep in printed stock before swapping out the nozzle?

The only parts I ever had to reprint are the shroud and the part that holds the PINDA.
