Laser cut Prusa i3 Mk3 steel frame?

Hi everyone,

Proud owner of a DIY P3Steel and an MK3, and since the DXF files are available on GitHub, I was thinking of upgrading my MK3 to a steel frame, in order to improve weight, rigidity and noise. Has anyone been doing something similar? It seems a bit difficult to find an online service that offers 6mm thick steel. I'm also a bit concerned about the bed weight since it is a moving part (for that I probably would keep the aluminum part I think). Any thoughts?

I think more important than rigidity is flatness. Laser-cut parts tend to warp due to the heat of the laser, water jet cutting is better in this regard.
