Install of .8mm tip

Hi,

I have installed a .8mm tip on my MK3, made the calibration adjustments, and in Slic3r I adjusted to .8mm, but I am still getting awful prints. Can anybody make suggestions? I was told the Slic3r would make the adjustments itself but its not doing anything. I have played around with making my own adjustments but cant find anything that works.

I've dumped all my notes on creating Slic3rPE profiles for different nozzles here.

Did you adjust your extrusion widths?

Did you re-calibrate your Live-Z? It's a good idea after any hardware changes.

Other than that, post some pics and you might get better suggestions.

Myles:

Bobstros info/settings are a good guide. I also recently installed a 0.80MM nozzle and used his slic3r profiles and they worked well to get started and had successful prints.

I am a bit confused by the 0.6MM nozzle settings in Slic3r PE as some of the settings are the same as 0.4mm profile items, such as layer height being 0.20 in the stock 0.6MM slic3r settings...

read the blog post on different nozzle size settings and use Bobstros profile as a start. You will have to adjust as the 0.8MM is not a supported nozzle size, but it can be done... This is the blog post, read the comments for suggestions. https://www.prusaprinters.org/everything-about-nozzles-with-a-different-diameter/

Re: Install of .8mm tip

Thanks. I'm just trying to keep notes to avoid confusing myself. I'm updating all my printer (really nozzle) profiles now.

I've attached a config with my latest 0.8mm nozzle settings. It includes a 0.32mm layer height print setting profile. I'm using this to try to refine stringing with different nozzle sizes.

Be sure you've got your Live-Z set correctly before using this. Don't be alarmed by the long startup. It's waiting for the PINDA probe to warm up. On a cold day, it can spend a while at the back of the bed warming up before it starts the print. This helps with 1st layer consistency. At least for me. YMMV!
