Hi, is there a reason the hot end is mounted so the the heater wires come out to the left side then make a sharp 90 degree bend and exit out the back?  It would require some minor cutting or reprinting of the factory parts.  Not a huge issue since there is excess gap in the factory parts that hold my hot end in.  I put an orig on the hot end heat sink mount to take up the slop until I print out a modified part. 

Has anyone mounted the hot end so the heater cartridge and thermistor wires exit directly out the rear?  My heater cartridge failed at this 90 degree bend point. I think this would be a much neater mounting solution.

File uploaded...  I stretched this oring over the hot end note how it is now tight. Im a bit shocked it came like this.

That O-ring is strange, it's not on my MK3.
On my heatsink is a plastic collar that will lock the teflon tube so it can't come off.
Maybe Prusa has changed this? The O-ring is also not included in the MK3S building description.
Do you know where to place it?

I put the O-ring in there to take up all the play in the hot end. Note how much extra clearance there is. It was causing extreme layer shifting.

That picture was there before I mounted the collar on top, it was just for fitment testing.

So you've improved your extruder! I thought you ruined it 🙂
You are right that heatsink must be fixed. Hope your printer works better now.

I am wondering how many other printers have this issue. 

So,  does anyone see an issue turning the hot end 90 deg so the large side is on the left and reversing the heater and thermistor so they exit out the rear?  I don's see any issues with this.  Any input welcome.  I will rotate, trim up the parts that need trimming and report back after a calibration.

I was hoping somone already had the parts modeled to make this happen.

turning the heater block will not allow the part cooling duct to fit. you will be blowing on the heater block and not on the nozzle tip.

Not sure if you found the answer.

I did a slight change to the heat block (small chamfer, which doens´t make a difference, as the thread is not used to the full extend.

I also created a new heatblock I´ll have manufactured.

Working as a charme an no need for the pesky 90° angle which kills off the cables.

Only issue I noticed is I have to modify the fan shroud. It already melted slightly.

The distance between the upper surface of the heat block and the underside of the heat sink should be about 2.5 mm. Your picture shows that you only have about 1 mm there. Where are the missing 1.5 mm?

Hmm... that is a good question. Never spend time to check this out. 
Currently I have really good results, so I think I won´t temper with it at this point of time. 😉

Looks like you have the wrong nozzle type. MK8 nozzles have shorter threads than the correct v6 nozzles. This would mean your heatbreak is recessed too far into the block.

That´s possible. the nozzles had been quite cheap... So I should get back to my hardened nozzle for the V6 heatbreak. 
Damn it. another disassembly...
