Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
What kind of transfer speeds are people seeing with this?
And are there any advanced tools (specifically for Mac) to quantify transfer rate for a connection like this?
Mine seems quite slow...
When it's stable, it's been working better and more consistently as of late though, so pretty happy about a little reliability from the Flashair card!
Have it connected to a "extended" 2.4+5Ghz Apple airport network, and presumably the device it connects to is a second tier device, though the instance of the IP for the flash air card seem to indicate it is connected on the first tier device rather than the one closest to it.
Which might be a problem?
I have both the IP settings to the closest router specifically, but it seems to ONLY connect to the to the "main" airport extreem wired to the Comcast modem rather than the closest airport that is extended from the main router despite seemingly forcing its connection.
It's possible the way it reports the device is different somehow though?
No other devices seem to force a connection back to the main router, so my thoughts are there may be a strange anomaly that makes the Flashait card connect to the the main router somehow...maybe it can't cope with apples extended networks? Just a completely wild guess?
Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
Got my MK3 assembled and printing. Using the Flashair SD card and it works well. I can send gcode from S3D to the SD card without having to reinsert the sd card for a file read reset. The MK3 SD card setting is set to Flashair. The RPi Zero/W board no longer is needed for wifi file transfers and will only use it for video and timelapse shots. The Rpi Zero would only need to draw power from the Einsy for that purpose.
Thanks All!

awesome! I was confident it would work for you once it wasn't having those fslock issues. I bought mine when octoprint wasn't working and I never went back when octoprint was fixed.
Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
Just as a side note for those that might be trying to return their network to "Before FlashAir" integration...
I have not been able to keep my Original Networks name that I have had for many years, both ascii key codes symbols and emoji do not seem to be valid SSIDs for the FlashAir cards network AFAICT?
I have almost always used either the ascii symbol SSID or a emoji 🍔SSID
Its silly I know...but its been our thing for a very long time, so if you use something similar, you might need to change or use a alternate network or identifier.
Our Comcast/xfinity router seems to work as a alternate path.
Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
Also, has anyone figured out a way to change the heading on the "Network Share" for Mac?
Would really like to change the identifier to "Prusa MK3" if it is possible to do this at all?
Are there some specific terms that would be good to know to search for what the heading is called and how to change how the identifier is presented?

I'm suprised you got away with that for as long as you did. You must have only had laptops and mobile devices connected to it. I'm pretty sure zero of the network-gadgety things I have on my network would have accepted that. (Nest thermostat, Arduinos, IOT gadgets, etc.)
Also, has anyone figured out a way to change the heading on the "Network Share" for Mac?
Nope, I have not. But the root cause of that for me is that my FlashAir refuses to advertise any sort of name on my network. I've tried a dozen different configs, and in no case can I get it to advertise any sort of network name at all (NetBIOS, mDNS, etc). If yours is advertising a network name, and you can ping it by its name, then you should be able to do a "Connect to Server" on your Mac, and connect to http://<network name>. That would inherently change the label that appears on the connected network share. However I have not found a way to connect to it by IP address, then rename the connection to a textual name.
Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
I set up a FlashAir card and it seems to be working fine now... In the beginning though I had some troubles connecting to the access point and I found out the reason. I'm posting it here in case it's helpful to somebody else. Sorry if it's been covered before.
The FlashAir card (at least my version) can only connect to Wifi channels 1-11. I had the closest access point set to channel 13, therefore the card was trying to connect to a different AP, with a weak signal.
I changed the channel to 8 and the connection seems much more stable now.
Thanks for the guide!

Using channel 8 on 2.4ghz wifi is kinda "rude" Not trying to be negative and keeping this short there are really only 3 clear channels on 2.4 wifi, 1,6 and 11. This is due to channel overlap. Using 8 wipes out 6 thru 11
See https://www.extremetech.com/computing/179344-how-to-boost-your-wifi-speed-by-choosing-the-right-channel for a better explanation.

Ooops you are right of course, I had forgotten why I hadn't chosen channel 8 when I set up the network 😎 . However the important take-home point is to set a router channel between 1 and 11 otherwise the flashair won't connect.

In the first post the netbios naming is listed
Second or third post mentions setup on Mac
Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
I have installed my Flash air using a PC not connected to my network and got to it via my IE browser with 192.168.0.21. There I can see all files on the card but I can copy anything to it and I can also not map it as a networkdrive.
My config file is as follows.
[Vendor]
upload=1
UPDIR=/
WEBDAV=2
ID=prusa
CIPATH=/DCIM/100__TSB/FA000001.JPG
APPMODE=5
LOCK=1
APPSSID=cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
APPNETWORKKEY=********
VERSION=F15DBW3BW4.00.02
CID=02544d535733324755e129617a011701
PRODUCT=FlashAir
VENDOR=TOSHIBA
MASTERCODE=0019d14f4266
APPINFO=0000000000000000
Does any one with more good ideas than me se what I am doing wrong?
With the free standing PC i can read and write to the card no problems
Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
Should of course be can not copy any thing to it

Can you ping it?
What error message do you get when trying to apply it?

UPLOAD=1 needs to have this capitalization otherwise it will not be understood. Just like all the rest of the variables

Did that fix it?
Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
I know this is for the MK3, but since i have got the MK2s (soon MK2.5), does the FlashAir W-04 work with the MK2 or its better to stick with the "W-03?
Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
I have used it in a PC NOT connected to ANY network in any way. It works. I tried to connect to it using an apple 2A USB charger and a sd card reader. Does not work so now I will wait for my MK3 and test.

Either should work fine

I'm puzzled. Do you mean you plugged a SD card reader into a two amp charger? If so I'm sure the card is ruined. It's designed to be used in a camera or other device
Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping
I doubt that. Plugging the card into a usb charger merely powers the card reader, which should power the card. The card reader isn't going to pull any more amps that it needs... it's not like the charger can 'force' 2 amps into the card reader. He's fine...
