As i have in the screenshots and instructions on the OP you need to copy down the mac address from the back of the card. Then you need to run the configutility and then enter the mac address, and exit, once you do you will see a MASTERCODE= line in the config and it will include the mac address without colons.

after that is added change the following as i describe below:

I watched the video link and APPMODE=6 seems to be what I want as well. Connected to the internet network and a wifi link to the SD card at the same time. I added the line back into the CONFIG as I saw somewhere in a TOSHIBA link that it was listed in the CONFIG but still won't work.

This CONFIG now seems to be working. I can ping it and I can access it from my browser via 192.168.1.11/Files.
My wireless 2.4Ghz channel is set to 5 instead of AUTO. See video link for UPDATE. Seems to be working SLOW however.
I also have it mapped to "P" drive using http://192.168.1.11/files (W-03 SD card only).

I wanted to try and set the APPMODE=5 from 6. I also removed BRGNETWORKKEY, BRGSSID and APPAUTOTIME. I have done this using Notepad++. Then I go back into the Toshiba FlashTool and Network Settings to save the updated CONFIG file changes. When I open the CONFIG file again with Notepad++ I see that the APPMODE=4. Why is this happening?

I also notice that if you copy files to the wireless mapped SD drive and then look at the SD card (Removable Disk (G:) those files are not found.
Why is this happening? Can you please offer more help.

Okay, I think it's changed to APPMODE=5 now.

Edited the CONFIG to APPMODE=5 from 6 with Notepad++. Removed (BRGNETWORKKEY, BRGSSID and APPAUTOTIME under (DNSMODE=1) because I understand they are not needed. I also added back the [WLANSD] (recommended) and moved NOISE_CANCEL=2 and WEBDAV=2 under the [Vendor] area from the [WLANSD] area.

I then ran the Toshiba FlashTool and run Network Settings to save the updated info. I did not check the box for "Use the same network settings, even after the card is formatted". I reopened the CONFIG file on the SD card itself and found the APPMODE=4 again so I changed it to 5 and saved the file then checked it again and it was now set to five" I DID NOT rerun it back thru the FlashTool this time so I'm not sure if it is really running in APPMODE=5.

You're saying that you can drag and drop files from your computer to the mapped 'P: drive' ( http://192.168.1.11/files ), and Windows allows you to copy them, and doesn't give you an error of any sort? Then when you go to the SD card as "Drive G:" the files are not there? That would be odd. If the copy is not working, then you should get an error.

When you browse the SD card as the G: drive, do you see any folders on it, like your "Files" folder? If so, will it let you open the Files folder?

I got my Tosh. Flashair W-04 32Gb today and after a few hours of messing with settings, config, etc. have got it working, thanks to the good feedback here.

My problem is it isn't recognised in my (current) printer, a Prusa i3 Mk2. I'll wait until March for my Mk3 on order, so I was hoping to use the wireless capability of the SD card on the Mk2. Plugging it in, the display responds "Card Inserted" but there's no 'sort' of files and moving to the menu it says "No SD Card". There are Gcode files in a folder called "Files" but it's not accessible. The Flashair card works fine in all other respects when in my laptop (mapped drive) and in another laptop nearby via the wifi/mapped drive link. It's just the printer where it's not working.

I've tried Settings/SD card/Flashair or Normal - no change. Printer's firmware is latest at 3.1.0. My only thought is that I didn't FORMAT the Flashair card before initialising it with the Flashair tool. Anyone know what might be the issue, please?

Get the exact same thing on Mac with the W-04, so I think it has something to do with the card if I were to guess.

Everything acts like it copies over with the progress bar and completes as you would expect, it shows up on the sending machines file system remotely under the cards heading, but nothing has been actually sent to the card...

Does no one else see this type of behavior?
I assume it is partly to do with the connection being "unstable" and disconnecting prematurely?

Would sure like to resolve the stability of the link Tom the card, as to me this is actually how the printers should come with wireless file system support!

Being able to just drag and drop is absolutely fantastic with no other associated issues to sneak in or deal with like the Pi.

Okay, I think it's changed to APPMODE=5 now.

Ok, I thought i was clear in my instructions, but I may not have been...

I said to use the flashair tool to add the mastercode/mac address. And then to do the edits to the config. This is because the flashair tool will change it back to 4 or 6 when you make any saves. It will assign 6 if it see the brg items in the config and 4 if it doesn't

so each and every time you use the flashair tool, and since you have the mastercode in the config file that should be nevermore. it will change the appmode since the program thinks appmode 5 is wrong.

on your other topic where files are intermittently there or not when accessing the same drive TWICE in the same computer once as a network drive and once as mounted drive. THIS IS BAD, do not do this again, you likely might screw up the card. File locks and mounting will prevent things from displaying, for instance, until you dismount one of those drives (network or physical mounts) then the files should be there. but please pretty please do not mount it twice in the same computer.

i have no idea if you have the card mounted in the computer as a physical drive and are accessing it. if you are... bad dog! no treat for you.
mounting the same drive twice is not a good idea in any OS. on my printer, if i save a file in the same directory that i am browsing with the printer, I literally have to reset the printer in order to see the file i just copied. but if i am not browsing the card on the printer when i save the file it is there every time. if i try to save a file to the card when the printer is printing, it will sometimes freeze the printer and kill the print. so don't do that either.

not a mystery, this is what happens when you have a race condition. clear the RC and it all works perfectly.

i honestly do not know if a 32gb card is compatible with an mk2. i would ask that in the mk2 forum and see if anyone knows.
the sd card setting in the printer menu should absolutely be on flashair as it needs the higher voltage for all it has going on.

I had some serious trouble getting my Flashair to work in station mode. In the end it turns out that it won't connect to a wifi on channel "auto" - or possibly 11-12.

Thanks for replies. Yes, I have gcode files on the card (copied from working standard 16Gb SD). Not sure what you mean by 'AP or Client' but I set the card up as per advice here; Appmode=5, etc. Per your other reply later, I'll go to Mk2 forum and ask about capacity but I'm pretty sure there's people having success with 32Gb W-04 Flashair cards there.

Yes it seems strange that 16 vs 32 GB should make a difference. The SDHC spec goes from 4 to 32 GB, so there is no clear reason why one size should work but not another.

When the Flashair card was originally initialised and network settings added, it would appear in my list of wifi access points on any device. Then, presumably when Appmode was set to 5 in CONFIG, it disappeared from view, but is addressable via a network mapping and the (fixed) ip address. I assume this means it's working as a 'client' in Appmode=5

I need to re-check your config file, but it seems if you have to 'look for' the ip address of the card once inserted in the printer, you've used DHCP and let the router assign the address. I can swap to this method, but is it likely to make a difference to my problem?

Ultimately, I might just start again following your instructions (thanks) but for now, I can't see where the issue might be.

No, I'm guessing it wouldn't make a difference. My problem was getting the card to connect to the wifi at all. During this struggle, I saw similar behavior from the flashair to what you're describing, I got the card to connect to wifi earlier this morning - when I made the post - and then immediately had to rush to work, but I remember the mk3 menu option having changed to "print from sd card", as opposed to the earlier behavior where it just said "card inserted".

I haven't yet printed anything from the card, so it is still entirely possible that I'm going to find the exact same problem you're having.

Thanks for the advice on the double mounted SD card on the same computer.

The wifi channel needs to be set between 1 and 11 which is all that's available for the 2.4Ghz band.

I think I understand your meaning of you're not suppose to have the SD card connected to the host computer and have it plugged into a SD card reader on the same host computer at the same time (double mounting a single drive). I can see how this could create a race condition but honestly I never gave it concern as I have never done it before. I will plug the SD card into another device and try it again as I don't have my MK3 yet.

I am sure happy that bit of installation from Hell is finally finished! 😀

I've checked, and my printer currently says "Prusa i3 MK3 Ready."
I can upload files to the card over wifi and they immideately show in the printer menu. Upload seems to take ~1min/10MB.
Removing the card gives me the "Card removed" message.

Inserting it again gives either gives me the dots, and then it says "Card inserted" and the menu says "No SD card"
- or -
inserting it again displays the progressbar and the "sorting files" message and the menu option says "Print from SD".

Usually it is the first removal/insertion after a printer reboot that fails. On subsequent removal/insertions it works.

So far it has always been working if the card is already in the printer when i turn the printer on.
