Nice. I think I'll make this.

Thank you for sharing!

More importantly, thank you for taking the time to monitor and measure how effective the filter actually is!

Thank you, i'm designing another variant for a centrifugal fan, if you wan't to wait... Compatible fans: https://www.sanyodenki.com/archive/document/product/cooling/catalog_E_pdf/San_Ace_97BMB33_E.pdf
More static, more performance passing the filter. 7.63 mmH2O Noctua vs 130 mmH2O on the best model (9BMB24P2K01). To much power draw for the porpouse but since i have a PWM controller i'm good

New version to be uploaded soon as i test it... Can be mounted only inside enclosure.
Drastic improvement on static (More performance passing the filters)
It use San Ace B97 9BMB series: https://www.sanyodenki.com/archive/document/product/cooling/catalog_E_pdf/San_Ace_97BMB33_E.pdf

You're venting an enclosure with only 4 or 5 cubic feet of volume; do you need 50 CFM?  It seems like there should be a good, quiet, 5 CFM fan somewhere that has a fair static pressure rating hat can push the air out a long vent channel. Plus, less flow improves charcoal contact time and will improve filter performance.

I don't know about feet meassurements but my box is +/- 60 cm^3 inside (Cubic Area).

After many tests this give the ultimate solution, low static will not pass long filters like mine, worse if use GAC, sure there are smaller fans that can do the job with less but why go less and then regret? With PWM control i have the power to adjust, so i can turn that 50 CFM into 20CFM or whatever i want down with speed control, so "Plus, less flow improves charcoal contact time and will improve filter performance." is achieved, unless you don't want to install a speed control and run fan at full power mode.

Using a beast fan like that give you the following:

  1. Fast Purge (Print with fan off, then print finish, wan't open door fast? No problem switch this at max speed - Fast Purges)
  2. Wan't silent? No problem, just turn speed down, i found after purge the box i can run fan at 30% speed and mantain almost no particles inside with positve static. That is as silent as the printer moves. Or run at 30-20% from start to always have the box clear.
  3. Never regret going a inferior or less capable fan
  4. Cheap fan!
  5. Future proof if you increase your area or maybe multiple printers

About 3m to purge all the air, at max speed, while printing.

Results with 30% fan speed (Stable purge)

Would you mind sharing a link to the air quality monitor you're using? The inexpensive ones I've found don't have very good reviews. Thanks.

I use two, the blue from video: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Formaldeyde-HCHO-PM1-0-PM2-5-PM10-Gas-Analyzer-TVOC-Particles-Detector-Meter-PM-2-5/32841491809.html

The internal for Octoprint plugin: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/NAVO-SDS011-Laser-Dust-Detective-Sensor-Board-PM2-5-High-Precision-Air-Quality-Detection-Sensor-Air/32952672554.html

They all will have a lifespan, the more reads the more sensor wear

Excellent work.  Would you mind sharing your PWM controller, either a link where to buy it or some schematics?

Thanx in advance

Cheers

Hello,

The module on pictures was a prototype made by me to controll my enclosure and fans.

I've made a special DIY module for fan PWM controll that respect the norm and is top notch, you can find it here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183894047866

Otherwise you can buy a DC switching module with regulation (Cheaper)

thanks for your support

Hola Tiago,

Thank you for sharing this very cool design! Have you been using it as is, or made any modifications in the meantime? I'd like to start printing ABS at home, but want to do everything I can to stop any dangerous particles and fumes from making it outside the enclosure. Really like the idea of using bulk charcoal granules vs. more expensive yet less effective charcoal filter mats.

Cheers,

Lukas
