Dual Extruder - RAMBO 1.4 Prusa MK3 Upgrade
I am interested in adding a dual extruder, or be able to use the prometheus system which I have unopened. I do have the MMU2S on backorder, but I'm enjoying tweaking this anyway. The RAMBO 1.4 is larger than the Rambo mini that comes standard with the MK3. It has an additional stepper motor driver which is neccessary for another extruder at separate temperature, or to use with the prometheus. I ordered the Rambo 1.4 and am going to order a PSU. Is there anything else I need to know about wiring it or parts? I haven't been able to find a guide online. Do I need endstops and do I lose any features like silent mode (don't care about that one)?
Thanks!

The Mk3 does not come with a Rambo mini, but with a einsy rambo. See https://ultimachine.com/
You will need to change your entire extruder assembly, wiring, possibly housing of the einsy, and firmware obviously.
If you have that goal in mind, there are probably cheaper base printers to tear apart.
I would not attempt that kind of change If I didn't know what I am doing and needed a guide. From your questions, I would assume that you're better of not trying.

+1 for cancel your Rambo order and rethink the whole project. Building a dual extruder printer is not a good idea for your first project.

I have the Rambo 1.4 from the mail and the prometheus system. I've abandoned the dual extruder plan. Now I just am debating whether I should build a dual extruder printer, or try and install this prometheus system. Half the fun is tinkering for me, so I can put it back to einsy mini if i need. However, if I have to buy a more powerful PSU just for prometheus on prusa, its not worth it to me. The filament switchers require a prime tower, how much more will this cost me in the long run, don't they take a lot more time to print with complex color patterns. What is a sub $1k printer that has retracting nozzles for the dual extruder?

I am not aware of any printer in that price range.
