"Ditto mode" or "twin prints" - two print heads to print simultaneously
Hi, wondering if people have successfully double ganged print heads to allow for multiple parts to be printed at once?

Not practical on such a small frame. Two printers is better.

I had this on a FlashForge. The Sailfish firmware has a great capability, and it was handy for when you need to crank out lots of small things. The limitation was that they had to be no more wide than the distance between the two heads (about an inch and a half). The real reason it had two extruders was printing with two materials, and it was nice that if one extruder jammed you could keep printing with the other. But as a free capability, it was perfect for cranking out tons of little give-away for Maker Faires.

It's not only impractical as tim correctly stated because of the size but also a pain in the butt (quite undoable with reasonable effort) with mesh bed leveling. To successfully get any quality of such a setup you require a perfectly flat bed as mesh bed leveling cannot compensate for the uneven bed - there is only one one shared x-axis to move up and down. You could of course change the bed and disable MeshBedLeveling but there is absolutely no point on modding an MKx in that way..

It has certainly been done, but not with a Prusa design. There are printers with dual independent extruders that can do this.There are some relatively low cost versions with automatic bed leveling. That one has a dual-zone heated bed.

@christoph-e5
Don’t worry about it, I’ve just figured out a really easy way to do it with minimal parts and standard fimeware.
yes, mesh & auto lvl are an issue but for my purposes I think I can make this work
