Bondtech + Mosquito magnum leaving gaps in print

i have maybe 2 months on these parts, and they are starting to fail

I believe this is the bondtech extruder's fault, it has been problematic since the day i purchased it.

I posted this in another section, but have received no responses.

Modifications

Bondtech extruder

Mosquito magnum hot end

0.8 mm nozzle

0.4 mm nozzle

Prusamet filament

It seems like the extruder is not extruding enough filament

Settings:

0.25 and 0.3 layer height with the 0.8 mm nozzle

The extruder is creating huge gaps in the print.

RE: Bondtech + Mosquito magnum leaving gaps in print

I had to re-tune my printer settings for the BMG/Magnum. K-Factor for Linear Advance was very different. You can output a print file for calibration directly from the Marlin website at- https://marlinfw.org/tools/lin_advance/k-factor.html . It will be different for each filament and nozzle. For 0.4N in PETG, I ended up at K0.16. That value can then be updated in Custom G-Code for the filament Start. This is the single most impactful parameter.

I also updated my Retraction settings;

  • Length: 1.4mm
  • Lift: 0.2mm
  • Retraction Speed:45 mm/s
  • Detraction Speed: 30 mm/s
  • Extra length at restart: -0.1 mm

Well the extruder is very broken, i pulled it apart this morning.  I have a backup so popped it in and it is working well now.

I suddenly started to get the same with mosquito hotend but stock extruder in a well insulated enclosure.

I wonder what fixed it for you and which part was broken?
