Beter part cooling ?

Hi all.

I feel that part cooling with stock fan shroud is not good enough and has always been especially on the back side of the print.

It is weird to me prusa never addressed the issue, or maybe I am the only one who think like this ?

Anyway there are plenty user mods for the shrouds for older versions of the extruder and none for the R4 version.

If anyone have improved model to share or can make one I will be very grateful.

I've seen lots of attempts at better mousetraps, none that anyone has verified to work substantially better.  In one case a designer demonstrated a few (3 maybe 4) degrees of better overhang performance in ONE direction.  Better? Yes, but not something I will make a swap for.   I'd recommend searching the forums for posts.  All my links went away with the upgrade.

I have tested a number of designs for the Mk3 (non-s) and I've seen no measurable improvement in cooling with any of them. I believe just rearranging the shroud isn't enough, a stronger fan with better pressure performance will also be required to deliver air from more sides.

Just occurred to me, Thingiverse has a number of designs to try. Search for Prusa MK3.  Download, slice, print, install, test, next ...

Generally I agree with you , that most of the cooling updates have very little if any impact on the back side of the print. I have tried a few without success. But just a few weeks before I tested this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3063554

This construction gives a regulated efficient airflow in 3 directions. See how small the front opening is. Not without a good reason. 🙂 The shroud stretches back enough to cool the back of the workpiece. This is what most upgrades are missing.

After printing this with ABS and installing in place of the factory part on the R3 extruder (fan moved back to vertical position) the difference was visible at the first print. I was very satisfied with it. Sadly enough after I have upgraded to R4 extruder I was left with the factory shroud. This was a step back in quality of overhangs at the back side.

I tried that one, too, and it didn't help on my test model. (Atom3D overhang test.)

I think it was RDH that did some testing a while back: and those parts look suspiciously similar to his version.  But the true test is doing the overhang puzzle test with the test arch rotated in the four cardinals.

Sadly, per the OP none of these are for the R4 design. All are R3 and earlier.

I'm going back to my conspiracy theory. Searches for "prusa" are yielding nothing for me. A search for any other term yields results.

I got very similar results with this fan. Noticeably better results at 60 compared to the stock parts, still rough at 70 and hairy at 80. Definitely an improvement though. I have not updated to R4 parts yet, most out of laziness and the fact that my printer is working so well. I've got MMU2 and MMU2-MMU2S upgrade kits here, both with the requisite parts, but I just hate to tear it down when it's working so well.

I just find it odd that "Prusa" yields no results, but that there are dozens of models with Prusa in the name or description. This has happened a few times in the past. It didn't work, then worked for months, and now doesn't search on the term "prusa".

I was so very confused until I realized the image was sideways! Looks interesting. Please keep us updated on results.

This overhang test goes to 80. This one goes to 81. I still can't decide if the 2nd one is a joke or not.

Silly question. While second blower is added, what happens to the amperage  ?  Both of fans blows a bit weaker ?

The MOSFET driving the fans on the Einsy board has to take the double load. So, while voltage is constant (5V), the current supplied by the Einsy gets doubled. Not that it matters much, it's still miniscule.
