Assuming the thermal expansion of plastic is around 0.6%, I'm always amazed at how accurately the Prusa prints. A deviation of only 0.1mm at 100mm print size is very good. However, I find it completely over the top to talk about thousandths of a millimeter in the area of 3D printing, because this is hardly possible with high-precision CNC machines. The PINDA V2 (incl. temperature compensation) on the MK3 is a luxury and I wouldn't want to replace it with anything else 👍

Which version of BL Touch or Inductance probe? The BL touch is only 6 months old. I purchased both inductance and capacitance probes. I would have to dig through boxes for the inductance. I found that the capacitance probe was actually superior to either of the other two types. On capacitance probe, I installed:

Yes, the PINDA V2 is the old one. Of course the new SPINDA works too, but I never tested it, because the old PINDA V2 works perfectly. The SPINDA I have only installed on the Mini, because the MINDA is known to make problems.

The original BL Touch is certainly not bad, but not absolutely necessary for the Prusa MK3. Perhaps this makes more sense for other printer brands.

"beer can mod" - strange but funny name.
Of course, this is a simple way to physically level the bed. But would be too fiddly for me, since silicone buffers or springs can be adjusted more easily. After all, the print bed "hikes" at different printing temperatures. I have installed high quality steel springs and am very happy with them. The bed is leveled in a few minutes.

An interesting design. However, I would make all guide-relevant parts of metal (stability and heat deformation) and not use spindles with metric thread (mounting thread). To solve the problem of lost steps, you could also install a rotary encoder (similar to a servo control). However, the firmware would have to support this. Installing it 32-bit boards would certainly make sense there.
A print bed will also always deform slightly due to heat, no matter how stable it is built.
Most of the time I print ASA at a bed temperature of 110 degrees C. I can measure almost constant deviations up to 0.15mm in the different temperature phases (cold, 40, 60, 90 degrees C.). That is why I physically calibrated the print bed at this temperature (110 Gad C.). With Z deviations at a height of 100mm, I have not been able to detect big deviations. A new calibration differs at most by a few hundredths of a mm.
But certainly an interesting project to replicate 👍

I was not trying to indicate that the BL touch is junk. Based on the claims above, Math would indicate that the BL touch is 10-20 times more precise than the Pinda. That is just not the case.

You are certainly right 👍
BL Touch certainly has its justification, but is at most in the range of 0.01mm in the repeat accuracy and thus no groundbreaking improvement to PINDA V2. But you have to be careful - as is so often the case, there are also clones to buy. How it looks there with the measurement accuracy is another question.

I still don't understand how do you figure that? From what I can see, the math is exactly the other way around. PINDA measures to about 0.2 micrometers repeatability, whereas BLTouch is at 5 micrometers.

Okay, I just spent 30 minutes trying to find repeatability data for PINDA or any comparable inductive sensor, and I failed. Technical documents I found list all electrical and mechanical characteristics, but nothing related to accuracy. Can anyone provide official specs for the PINDA probe? So far the only thing I have to go by is the measurements from Thomas Sanladerer's video, claiming that all inductive sensors he measured achieved sub-micron repeatability. His measurement for BLTouch was spot on, by the way, he measured between 3 and 6 micron repeatability for it in the same video.
Anecdotally, if a fully plastic mechanical/electrical device can achieve 5 micron accuracy, I can definitely believe that a purely inductive device can achieve accuracy less than 1 micron, but, of course, that's just my opinion.
