Anyone willing to print a different ABS fan shroud for me?

Hey guys, just built my printer last week (coming from ender), still getting everything dialed how I want, but overall I am liking this machine. The only thing that I really don't love is the parts cooling fan shroud. I thought it was going to be more radial, but instead it just blows into the front of the nozzle. The cooling is still alright, but I know I could get much better overhangs if I had a better fan shroud, but I don't have ABS and I don't exactly have the time or environment to mess around with it, so was wondering if anyone could print me one and ship it to me?

I of course would pay for shipping, and a little extra for your service. And yes, I know the stock shroud is fine, but I want something more radial.

I got a spare - and can print you one if nobody else takes you up on it

Do you have a design you prefer?  I really like a modified fan shroud I downloaded from here, but you should get what you like if you want someone to print it for you.   These take about 1.5 hours to print, typically.  I have multiple colors of ABS.  Think $8 + 4 shipping.

What do you have?

I'd be interested in seeing what you have. I didn't really have much in mind, just something that gave better all around cooling, perhaps something like this maybe? https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4811985/files

@dan-rogers

I've actually never used a different shroud (simply didn't see the need for it) but now I'm curious what you've got and how it worked for you. Also, with the additional airflow, did you do a PID tuning?

Shroud

I have used that shroud and it works well.

Extra air flow

Here's the one I am using right now ... https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/31778-mk3s-fan-shroud-with-nut-holder

PID tune?  Hmm.

Quick how?

Is that something on the control menu?  It sounds like fun...

Check out https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/pid-tuning_2265/

Unlike the Mini, it's easy on the Mk3S.

With the additional air flow on the nozzle/heater block, maybe that changes the thermo properties of the hotend.

Interesting. But it seems there's no Mk3S+ version of it, and both of my Mk3S are now Pluses.

Hmmm

I have it on am MK3S.  I have printed one to try on my MK3S+ - will have to see what won't work and come up with a fix.  I'm getting a much better bridge on the MK3S with this one.

Looks great

Hey that fan shroud you linked looks great! I really like how radial it is, seems like it covers more area of the nozzle for sure. Does it provide better overhangs than stock? Also, would it fit on a MK3S+? That's what I have

Not yet ...

According to the above, it probably needs some redesign to fit the S+.  I have one on an MK3S, and have one printed to try and fit on my other S+ printer - I am hoping to take a look at that this weekend.

PID calibration - didn't seem to use the part cooling fan

I ran PID cal for 240 degrees - I watched some of it - didn't seem to use the part cooling fan that I saw.

I took a quick look in Fusion 360 and it's not just a simple copy and paste to add the new attachment system from the Mk3S+ shroud. Sounds interesting but I have two screwed-up printers to fix that take precedence.

🙂

Is that not always the struggler?

First mashup

I'll be printing this mashup today in ABS and seeing how it fits on my MK3S+.  I think it will be pretty close to good. If anyone else wants to try - the pattern is attached. (untested)
