Win 10: 1.7.0 driver install failed

I attempted to install 1.7.0 driver on Win 10 but although Ultimachine 3D Printer (RAMBo) driver was installed, it shows that:
Prusa Research s.r.o Original Prusa i3 MK2 "Install Failed"

I see various icons on desktop like Slic3r etc. What could the problem be? Or is this a problem? I don't have any previous versions installed.

Re: Win 10: 1.7.0 driver install failed

Hi, this is allright, the driver is not needed for win10 and also fails to install as it is not signed. Printer now shows up as a COM port, when MS releases the next update, printer should be seen as Original Prusa i3. This will be fixed in 1.7.1. Sorry for the chaos 🙂

Re: Win 10: 1.7.0 driver install failed

I wiped my system and reinstalled a fresh Win10 installation, and I get the same error. When trying to start 'Prusa3d Slic3r 1.75mm' I get this error:

Could there be some connection? Is there a file I can download separately to install the missing dependencies? I have tried uninstalling and then launching the install from an elevated command prompt already.

Well, I should have looked the error up before posting, but in case someone else runs into the same thing, it was caused by power saving features in the switchable graphics on this notebook. Switching the power options to "Maximize performance" for on battery and power solved it. Strange issue to have with Slic3r i'd think.

Re: Win 10: 1.7.0 driver install failed

Hi guys. 1.7.1 resolves this.

To explain it:
The MK2 driver is not signed. Windows 7 doesn't care. Win 10 does, so our driver fails to install, but automatically uses USB serial driver like every other normal OS. So everything is fine, you just don't see the fancy name assigned to serial port on Win 10.

This will be improved in next couple of days, we are now waiting to get sw signing certificate so everything be smooth as butter. Also we are still working with windows slicer team to get the driver into windows update finally, this will solve the "issue" on Win10 and enable the printing from Builder app.

Re: Win 10: 1.7.0 driver install failed

Josef,

I have tried 2 different laptops, one with windows 7, and one with 8. Both install the .exe which contain the drivers and programs with no issues but the PC still sees the printer as a device without drivers. I've tried to reinstall, change USB ports, reboots, even tried to strip the drivers from the .exe and point windows to them with no luck. What am I doing wrong?
