Think I'll pass on 3.0.10

I've tried the firmware upgrade several times now and it just likes to do weird things. I've had it shift print on the y axis in mid print (~10mm). Drive the extruder nozzle in to the bed on the start print checks. The last thing it did was at 25 hours into a print at 99% complete, it stopped, printing head went to home, shut down the heat for the print head and bed, decided it wasn't done and rammed the print head into the print and drug the cooling nozzle through the print.
Down graded back to 3.0.9 and everything works fine. Strange but since I'm getting prefect prints with 3.0.9 I'm good with staying put.

Re: Think I'll pass on 3.0.10

I hear ya, I've experience the nozzle going into the bed and some other weird things during prints that ruin the print. I had one today that was going fine and then would stop randomly and just keep pushing out filament, then start back up slamming into the piles of built up goo. After that, I had to recalibrate the whole thing again.

Mine came with 3.0.10, so I may look into going to 3.0.9.

Re: Think I'll pass on 3.0.10

The problem here is that with thousands of users running 3.0.10 and only a handful having problems, these faults are both difficult to diagnose and may remain unknown the the devs.

Best thing to do is to raise an issue here: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues and give as much information as possible.

Thanks, I thought of that but the glitches are random and I can't get them to repeat. I run the same gcode, sometimes it works and sometimes not. I kind of posted this as the old doctor joke. "Doc it hurts when I do this. Well stop doing that." Like I said, 3.0.9 prints just fine, so I don't need to run 3.0.10. If I can get something to repeat I'll document it and post to github.

I also have random weirdnesses that i can't seem to replicate.

Since the day i upgraded to 3.0.10 i've witnessed things that i never had before like:

- Print just... stops... when printing over Octoprint. pausing and resuming then resumes the print
- random 'nozzle not clean' when doing the 9 point mesh leveling before every print (nozzles and printbed is squeaky clean)

I've also had the nozzle ram the printbed when calibrating before a print

Re: Think I'll pass on 3.0.10

That's the problem. My printer is on 24/7, printing most of the time and running 3.0.10, yet I never get any of these issues.

Definition of a program: A precise sequence of instructions for carrying out work. The program should never change and it should do exactly the same thing every time. The only reason it does not is because there is "external interference", which would include (but not limited to) memory corruption, power issues and humans.

I would suggest power-cycling between prints but in theory that should not make any difference and for me it's simply not necessary.

Re: Think I'll pass on 3.0.10

I run two of the mk2 printers. Until January they were running 7 days a week, now they are running about 6, sometimes only 5 days a week. I have always waited a little before jumping on the latest and greatest. However, once on the software installed it performs the same every time. I would suggest that you add a battery back up system that will also provide filtering of your power, trash on the data buss is about the only way software will mess up, unless there is a hardware malfunction. Software problems can be a problem to duplicated if you don't do the same thing every time. At our shop we follow a check list when slicing (we use simplify3d), we use a check list when setting up the printer and the filament. The Prusa printer has been free of bugs, I can't say the same about some of the other models we have.

Re: Think I'll pass on 3.0.10

I updated to firmware 3.0.10, and my printer was still working just fine.

Then I did the PID autotune to improve the bed and nozzle heating system (temperatures are now dead nuts on target). Ever since I did the PID autotune, it appears that the Z bed leveling isn't working correctly.

Now, ABS printing has gone to hell, and printing the V2Calibration test pattern seems to show the head height over the print bed changing. Some parts of the test pattern are squished into the print bed nicely. Other parts of the test pattern are still round and unsquished! My ABS prints were reliable before this change.

Not sure if my PINDA probe just needs to be lowered again, or if this is some kind of software problem caused by the PID autotune?

I also had the X-axis shift about half way across the heated bed once after doing the PID autotune.
