Terrible Support Removal

I've been having big problems removing supports from my prints. I just installed the latest version of Slic3r PE from the download page & still have the issues. The supports stick to the part way too well & I can't remove it all. It leaves a nasty rough look to it. I'm not sure what settings to change it to help. When I first did it back in January, I don't remember what version, I was able to remove them pretty easily.

Can anyone suggest how I can improve it?

Thanks!

Re: Terrible Support Removal

You can increase "Contact Z distance" (try 0.15 or 0.2).

Thanks Roman, I've been trying some different tests with that. I found that I think it may be under extruding, the outer layers of the part itself pull in a lot and don't really stick to each other. I'm going to try an extrusion calibration to see if that helps. It could be bridge flow too, so I'll double check that as well.

Re: Terrible Support Removal

I just found that there are always 4 or 5 layers between the top of the support and the bottom of the part unless I put Contact Z Distance to 0. If I have any number, from .001 to .2 I get 4 to 5 layers. I think this is my main problem now. The bottom few layers of the part above the support are pulled in a lot because of this.

Re: Terrible Support Removal

looking at it, i would say over extrusion (reduce ya extruder multiplier) , and maybe a low nozzle?

the "T " shaped model on the bed contact surface almost looks like 20-30% of the previous laid filament is touching the next.

i tend to think if the support is touching each other, your head is too close to the bed (or the above)

all i have is white , so it sucks for photos, but i did a small quick model with the exact same settings in the "options for support"

hope this helps in any way as im no expert myself
