Slic3r Support settings
Can someone explain to me what the purpose of "Support Settings>>Enhance support for the first:" is? I have messed with this endlessly and it does not seem to do anything.
What I want to do is only support the first x layers. What is the best way to achieve this?

Normally you get support only where there is an overhang with an angle lower than a configured threshold. The option you are asking about adds supports under any overhangs, independent of their angle. If your model has no overhangs, then this option has no effect.
I agree, it is not obvious what this option is supposed to do, I had to look it up in the source code.
