slic3r -> object settings -> "move" grayed out?

in slic3r you can move objects on the printing bed by dragging them around with the mouse.

but for various reasons i would prefer to use exact numbers. if you right click on an object and go to settings there is a "move" section. but this is always grayed out. why? this sounds exactly like what i need. why is it there if it can't get used?

I have had the same issue so normally I just place my objects in Autocad where I want them then export to the print file.
I did notice that you can use the "Move" on object modifiers but not the object it self, I don't know if that is how its intended or not.

Also if you have Autodesk 123D Design it works great for moving the print files around as well as rotation and adding letters and such.

thanks, i will try that. but doesn't slic3r always center according to the bounding box no matter what the location is in the modelling app?

The "move" section is to place the modifier meshes, it works for them. I'm not aware of any option to move the actual part more precisely than with the mouse

It does on single parts but if you want multiple parts keeping the same spacing then export them as one and it will center them to the bed but the spacing should be fixed.

Unless you are trying to move the parts to a certain spot on the bed then it going to be just using your mouse.
If you are using Prusa Control the bed layout is the same and you can just look at your printer and move the part to match on the bed.

ok! as a workaround i could simply place small dots as additional parts for controlling the bounding box.
