Sequential printing extruder clearance

Hey guys,

I would like to ask if anybody knows the correct values for the clearance (Radius mm, height mm) that should be but in the sequential printing setting in slic3r
The machine is the pursa i3 mk2s

I would appreciate your help guys.

Regards,

Re: Sequential printing extruder clearance

Following this as I am trying to print sequentially and doesn't seem to work for me

It's definitely not the preset setting of 20 mm x 20 mm. I have the MK3. What are you guys using? I am successful using 45 mm radius and 30 mm height, but at that point I should almost just print things one at a time. Have you made any progress?

Hey!

I would also be very interested in the "minimum" for the MK3S. I am trying right now with the 45mm and 30mm, but would be nice to have a "optimal setting"

RE: Sequential printing extruder clearance

I would like to know this too.  I have an MK3S and am using the new slic3r 2.o Prusa Edition.  I was trying to print small blocks, only 17mm high and spaced widely on the build plate (24 objects) and was trying to print one at a time, first, without brims then with.  The first time, I tried the default settings and upon printing the first object, the x axis rods crashed into the newly printed object and knocked it over.  The second object came out as just spaghetti before I stopped the print to try again.  I had to redo my z calibrations a couple of times before I could try again.  I used the default settings of 20 x 20 for this attempt.

I then tried the same print again, but added brims and increased the height to 20 and left the radius unchanged thinking that would be enough to resolve the issue, but it wasn't...same thing happened and I had to re-do the z calibrations again.  I then resorted to printing the 24 objects layer by layer which was mostly successful.

What would be the best values for height and radius when using an MK3S and slic3r 2.0 Prusa Edition?  One wouldn't think it would have to be that big for very small objects.

RE: Sequential printing extruder clearance

Here's my understanding of these values:

Height is the distance to the X rods when the nozzle is on the bed/at Z=0. So you want to go *less* if the rods are hitting your part. The radius is what needs to be increased if other parts of the extruder (e.g. fan shroud, pinda, etc) are bumping into the other prints. That one is easily determined using a ruler to find the distance corresponding to the extruder body point that protrudes the furthest from the nozzle tip, between 0 and  the height above.

Note: For height I've heard it reported that if the parts are arranged such that it is taller than the rod distance and it cannot arrange them such that they won't collide, it will print as much of one part as it can, then go to the next one, etc, finishing each part in "chunks" of layers
