SCAD

So I was just looking over the github repository for the i3 mk2 and I noticed that all the printable pieces come in both STL and SCAD files. Are the parts designed in OpenSCAD?

Just curious if anyone knows.

Wow! I think that is impressive!

I have looked at openscad and I guess it just doesn't resonate with me, which is weird because I am a programmer by trade. But I am going to take another look at it. I just think that it is pretty awesome that these parts are designed that way. Some of these pieces are very complex!

Re: SCAD

To be honest i did not come across a cross-platform soultion that is so fast and easy to use like openscad.
I tried to create a simple silica box with cloud based solidworks kinda sodtware and it was a nightmare. 5 clicks to set the correct lengh of ONE side! thats 20 when you doing a rectangle... etc...

Openscad is not that easy to learn i see on myself but its lighting fast if you can do it!

Re: SCAD

Sounds like you are describing OnShape. I personally use TinkerCAD and have no issues. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I have been working with Fusion 360 and it is very powerful. It is also visual so I can see what I am creating as I am creating it. SCAD seems weird to me I guess. I need to watch some videos I think ...

Re: SCAD

I learned about OpenSCAD from 3D Printing Nerd Joel Telling's Youtube channel and OpenSCAD's Language Manual.
