Prusa Slicer View Point

When I first assembled my machine, I was introduced to PrusaControl and I loved it. As time went by, I was then introduced to ProcerSlicer. The more I use it the greater I love it.

There is one minor item about Slicer that bothers me and I haven't found a way to fix it. When I start up the program and the plater is viewed it is obvious that the prospective is off. That is, the vanishing point is towards the viewer rather that off in the distance. Is there a way to change this?  Thank you.

Nope - somewhere in another post with nearly the exact same wording as your post there was a response indicating there was discussion among the devs about implementing a true perspective view. But no timeline.

FYI: It's not off. It's just not what you're used to. PrusaSlicer (and its predecessor Slic3r) uses an orthographic projection. Take a piece of paper or ruler and measure the close side of a rectangle on the screen then measure the far side and you'll see they're the same length despite the odd appearance. This view is technically "more correct" from an engineering perspective, but does appear odd if you're not used to it.

Is there a way to change this?  Thank you.

As Tim notes, not at present. Prusa did have a perspective view in PrusaControl, and much of the PrusaControl interface has been ported over. I expect it's in their development queue somewhere, but it hasn't been mentioned as a top priority so far.

RE: Prusa Slicer View Point

The more common perspective view is really close to being released. I’m playing with Supermerills slicer++ latest build at the moment which is built against the normal Prusa Slicer code with his mods and that has the option in to change the perspective so if I was a betting man I’d lay good odds we will see it in the next release as I don’t think it’s one of the things he has added.
