Prusa firmware Marlin compatibility

Someone here familiar with Marlin firmware?
As I noticed the MK2 firmware is based off Marlin.
Do they pull back the code changes in the original project so that we can profit from code changes in Marlin?

Doesn't seem to be like that since the MK2 firmware isn't forked off Marlin

would the MK2 also work with Marlin firmware? Did they implement the autocalibration process?

Re: Prusa firmware Marlin compatibility

MK2 is not compatible with the latest Marlin as far as I am known. You would loose many of the MK2 features like the XYZ/Z calibration, self test and I don't know what else yet.

We are currently busy getting our firmware updated with bug fixes and new features. If there is some interesting feature in the official Marlin, we will be happy to merge it, but currently we don't see a pressing need to merge with the official Marlin firmware as it would be very time consuming to us and it would provide very little benefit to our customers.

MK2 would work with vanilla Marlin quite well with calibration process as it was in versions around 3.0.3 - manually adjust frame until the probe is exactly above preset probing positions. I know it because I tested it. I agree with Vojtech saying that MK2 firmware has a lot of added features making life easier.
