NEW Prusa control slicer

Have you tried the new prusa control ? I was playing with it and it looks very promising. I guess it will have more options as this is a beta release.

Re: NEW Prusa control slicer

I have used it for several prints including ones with color changes. Works great after I found out how to add my material to the materials list.

It is in the materials_i3_mk2.json file in my users folder

I simply copied and pasted the Prusa PET section and changed the name and specs (nozzle temp, bed temp, etc.) to match my MakerGeeks PetG material.

While this editing is okay for me I hope they add a simple dialog for their target audience to add material.

Re: NEW Prusa control slicer

I just received my MK2S and tried Prusa Control. It loads fine and I can navigate around, but as soon as I load a STL file it freezes. Works fine loading a Gcode file. Running Windows 10.

I also use it to have an estimated time and filament used (it's what missing in slic3r PE)

Just used Prusa Control for Mac for the first time. Love the ColorPrint integration and Auto Arrange.

Downloaded the program on Windows PC but cannot see any imported model or Gcode. What am I doing wrong?

Re: NEW Prusa control slicer

Haven't tried to print with it yet, but did take it for a test drive. Something to watch for in modern software is that users do have 4K monitors now and your software should accommodate these high resolutions. The on screen controls get pretty tiny on 300 dpi monitors.

A 64 pixel high icon is only 5.4mm high.

Was usable, but would be a better experience if the UI elements could be scaled up beyond the old 96 dpi monitors of a decade ago.

Most users are working with 120 to 150 dpi monitors these days.

Re: NEW Prusa control slicer

Have you found how to print with PrusaControl? I was able to import model, slice it, generate g-code, save the g-code. But there is no communication setup or print button. In the artical at www.prusaprinters.org they write "The main goal is to open an object and hit print". It is still to be done, or I missed something?
You know, I am using Slic3r and Octoprint, which suites me quite well, but this PrusaControl seems simple enough to teach my son and wife how to use it.

Milos.
