Re: Netfabb centering

You suggested to use 3 perimeters but you're using 20?

No - you missed the opening sentence of that:

Temperature fan speed and print speed are what comes to mind.

Perimeters @ 20 mm/sec
Loops @ 32 mm/sec
...
First Layer: 215 Degrees C
Remainder: 200 Degrees C
etc.

I see now, thanks. Slic3r settings are different so I can't exactly compare. For example, there is no Loops settings.

Z-Lift was an issue with the Mk1, unless it was modified slightly to remove the backlash. It took me a while to work that one out, as Z-Lift it an extremely useful tool for some prints (like the Eiffel Tower).

Fortunately, the Mk2 has virtually eliminated the backlash issue with a few upgrades (the Z threaded rods/lead screws) and tweaks (such as the screws at the end of the rods in the X idler assembly reducing lateral pressure on the threads).
Well, that is very interesting and good to know. Yesterday was the first time I used zhop. I thought I would visibily be able to see the nozzle "hop" up but I couldn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Maybe I have to look more carefully.

Well, originally in slic3r there was a much smaller axis shift (2mm) while in Cura there was a huge shift

Most likely caused by default acceleration parameters. With Cura, you would need to insert the acceleration parameters and the printer will do the rest. Unfortunately it should not be necessary to do this as the firmware should contain realistic default maximums rather that values which are simply not achievable.

I see, so I should have added M201 X1000 Y1000 E600 ; set default acceleration
to the Cura start gcode, ok thanks.

The problem here is that I have set up for my printing environment which may be considerably different to yours.

Right, and I thank you for your insight. To me it's very complicated and I struggle to understand some things you write but slowly it's becoming more clear. I hope the Cura and Slic3r mk2 default profiles get updated over time so I don't have to tweak myself. However, other than this Eiffel print there haven't been many issues. It's working great.

Re: Netfabb centering

Yesterday, Anderson posted some Cura profiles for the Mk2 with a couple of different layer settings; they may be of assistance, but check out my not in the post after his regarding retraction.

As I use a larger Z-Lift, I do notice it while the nozzle is moving between areas. It is difficult to see on the Mk2; the Mk1 is half a turn of the motors, whereas the Mk2 is only 18 degrees for 0.4mm lift and 6 or 7 degrees for 0.15mm lift.

I agree it does sound complicated and it was also difficult for me at first, but the learning curve soon starts to level out.

I saw that and figured I'd be better off waiting for the official Peusa Cura profile to be updated.

Well, I'm all out of gray filament so I'll have to put this Eiffel testing/printing for another day. Thanks.

Yeah, except that is Anderson Ta! He does know about these things 😀

Oh, I had no idea who he is. I still don't but I guess I'll try it out then with your suggested change as well. Thanks.
