Is it worth updating to the new firmware?

Just wondering if it really makes much of a difference.

And how wrong can it go?

Can you potentially brick the Rambo in the process?

Cheers, Mik

Apologies, missed your query first time round...

To my knowledge, nobody has ever posted about a bricked RAMBo whilst performing an upgrade.

Upgrades are theoretically quick and simple. The upgrader is simply a Chrome browser in disguise and the upgrade process should take only a couple of minutes.

Whether it's worthwhile is another question. I am still running 3.0.8 as I didn't feel that moving to 3.0.9 was necessary. Really it depends on what version you are currently running.

I have always updated to the latest firmware for my Prusa I3 MK2 after upgrade, with no dead board issues. The upgrades worked and are the latest on my Prusa I3 MK2.

I did the update to firmware 3.0.9 today, because the new Slic3r does not seem to want to work for me in Ubuntu, so I had to boot into Windows to try it out.

It took a long time for the drivers to be installed when I first plugged the printer and computer together via the USB cable, maybe 10minutes. I thought the installer was not working, because I was not able to choose a Serial Port. Then the message popped up that 'The device is ready to be used' or something like it, and from there it went smoothly.

Windows 10 and others takes ages to install drivers. Its normal. Windows 10 takes ages particularly, due to checks in the background.
