what is the best possible free to use g-code editor.
I need it to add some lines in existing g-code files

Any plain text editor will work, even Notepad.
I use Geany, it's text editor for programmers.

My favorite is https://atom.io ( A hackable text editor )
- written by the guys who wrote github ?
- tons of plugins
- opensource
- works on all platforms
- can handle huge files
