Cura 15.04.6 usage

Hi,

I have just started printing with my Prusa i3MK2s and love it.
I have been using Prusa Slic3r till now but am battling with some of the settings and not knowing how long the print will take to run.

I have always in the past used cura and have the version above but have read bad things about the gcodes coming from cura causing the hot end to clash with the bed.

Can anyone tell me if this is not the case and the version of cura above can be used?
Any assistance is appreciated.

Many thanks.
Jonathan

Re: Cura 15.04.6 usage

Hi Jonathan,

I actually just 5 seconds ago asked a question on the forum regarding Cura crashing my hotend into the bed!

I like slic3r because of its high level of customization for prints, although I rarely change any of the settings. Mostly, I just change infill, layer height, and temperatures (when my new filament specifies it's ideal temperature).

When it comes to estimating print times, I load my G-code into Pronterface (which is included in the list of software drivers on the Prusa website.) Generally, if a printer is estimated at 3 hours, I expect the printer will actually take 3 hours and 20 minutes. It is about that inaccurate but it is tolerable.

I cannot answer your question about Cura too precisely, but I know that anything above Cura 2.3 does support Prusa MK2. Does not specify MK2S.

I hope this helped you in some way, and please do reply if you think I can help any more!

Cheers,

Jason
