Z-Axis threaded rods - straight?

So my threaded z-axis rods (sorry if that isn't the correct name) are not perfectly straight. If I raise the head enough that it causes them to make many turns, you can see a slight wobble to them. Curious if this is normal, or if it will cause issues with taller prints? Wondering if I might have tweaked them a bit trying to push them through the rubber sleeve and down to the motor axle.

Thanks!

Hi Mitch

If yours are only slightly bent, consider yourself a very lucky person!

Don't worry, it makes no difference to the printing and is simply the manner of and material used in manufacture. To be straight, they would need to be made of stainless steel which would increas the cost quite considerably.

Hello Mitch

It does not matter a lot. The Z axis screws are long and thin. The main thing is that the ride up and down is flexible over the ride. Your X axis mounts and Z level are what counts. Flexibility and wobble at the top does not matter. It is good overall. It will be dampend as the X axis rises.

Some others on other 3D printers have secured the top end on the Z axis in a bearing (The Da Vinci 1.0A) and have had poorer prints.

Other printers like the Hobbyking Large Fabrikator (now discontinued) secured the Z screw in a bearing at the top. A very good kit with anti backlash bearings and a great 3D printer, one of my favourites. < but has a very small build volume.

Mine are bent too, but don't worry and do not try to use a bracket to hold the top of them. You will have troubles if you do. I have printed everything on the SD card and they ALL came out perfect. Remember while printing the Z axis moves slowly so it makes absolutely no difference. The only thing to check is when you home the Z axis make sure there is a even space on each side on the X axis gap. I use feeler gauges for both that and the nozzle height. I love my Pursa i3 and it's a workhorse. The only problems I have ever had were user induced. LOL
