Y Axis must be skewed up to 3-4mm before it's purpendicular

Just assembled the MK2. It works but as the title says, in order for the bed to be purpendicular to the Y, i have to move the frame nearly 3mm on one side. when i built it, it was square, with 100mm (give or take 0.1-0.3mm) distance on both sides. it was square. but the bed is nearly 3-4mm skewed.

double checking the rods, one rod is 0.5mm or so longer. no biggie, i can live with that type of skew, even 1mm but 3-4 mm makes the Y visibly not square when you look at it from the LCD standpoint.

Bearings are secure and look fine, nothing off center. is there anything i can check that could be causing it? one side (the PS side) is 100mm, other is like 96mm. The 4 printed corners the rods sit into are also straight vertically (flat on the table, no tilt).

Aside from the this extreme skew, it works, no binding on Y and calibrates fine. it just doesn't seem right.

Thanks.

So i guess this is somehow normal by the lack of replies? or what?

I think the "Or What".

It is not clear from your post which measurements, and from where, you are talking about. A photo might help.

You need the gantry to be perpendicular, so whatever adjustments you made are good. The fact that the distances are different means the frame that holds things together is not square, but that does not matter, only the moving parts do.

Something has your frame in a parallelogram, not a right angle thing. This is not "normal" but also should not be an issue, as long as the moving parts are perpendicular.

Does the printer print okay?

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

I have just finished assembling my printer. Everything was set up exactly as per the manual but I have had exactly the same issue.

I had to bring the right hand side of the bed 3 to 4mm forward just to get the z axis gantry Paralell with the print bed. Without doing this it would not run through the xyz calibration.

Hello eric!

Could it be that the plastic parts forming the corners of the y-frame have holes that are not perpendicular to each other? I had that issue with the x-axis parts where the holes for the rods where not parallel with the base (they where in a slight slope upwards).

Hello! Yeah so if i followed the exact measurements of spacing between all parts and the Z as well, it's 100% purpendicular but the bed still isn't purpendicular to X. it must be shifted/put into a "parallelogram" to make the bed square to X. it could be the bed, or plastic parts. i've checked the plastic parts themselves for squareness but not the holes or anything like that. i guess it could either be that or the bed itself. the heatbed or gantry/platform it's on (the screw holes perhaps). i haven't tried loosening the screws of the bed and shifting but it has minimal clearance as it should so it might not matter really.

But yes, it does work fine. The skew just seems extreme. i'll leave it as it is for now until i feel up to checking into it again. it's just if there is a part that is defective like bed or whatever it would be nice to have a proper one. but i haven't figured that out yet.

I will check that, thanks!
