X Axis not homing

Hello, I have had your Original Prusa i3 printer since October and it has been great and very reliable. An issue started a few days ago and wanted to see if this has been reported before. When running the home sequence from the LCD the X axis seems to be completely ignored as if it is already at home even if the hot end is say in the middle of the glass. The Y and Z home with no issues. I manually toggled the X axis switch a few times with my finger and than re-start the homing sequence and all is OK. It has happened several times now in the last few days and seems to be getting worse. Have you seen this before?

Also, don't know if its related but the X axis home sequence seems to really slam into the switch when homing, any way of slowing this down so it is a soft bump into the switch vs slamming into it, or does this really not matter?

Thanks again,

Dennis

Hi Dennis

I think it probably best if you report this problem to support - use the "live chat" facility on the shop pages.

With regard to the homing speed, have you updated the firmware recently? It is also possible to amend the firmware yourself to slow down the homing speed (I have halved the homing feed rates):

#define HOMING_FEEDRATE {1500, 1500, 120, 0 } // PJR 3000, 3000, 240, 0} // set the homing speeds (mm/min)

Peter

Prusa support tech is working on it. They are stating I should re-flash my board but will check with another tech tomorrow to see if this has happened before. They might send me a new end stop switch.

Thanks,

Dennis

Dennis

I have just remembered something - when I first had the printer, my X endstop switch was not working properly. I had the cable caught between the RAMBo case and the aluminium frame.

You can always test the switch for continuity and ensure that it is switching with a multimeter. I think the switches are wired normally closed.

OK thanks Peter, I will check this today. I never did get a response from the Prusa team which is disappointing but will check this out.

Thanks again!

Hi Dennis

It's very strange that you haven't received a reply; they are usually very good in this respect.

Let us know how you get on.
