Worth using old PC?
Hi,
I've got my 1st ever 3D printer turning up in a few weeks mk2s (obviously). I have seen people using Raspberry Pi's with Octoprint on YouTube and wondered if I could make use of my old desktop PC instead. It will be sat right next to my Prusa. It seems a shame to get rid of my old PC but I wasn't sure if it would actually be worth it. What do you guys think.

Nah, the footprint is too large. You could use the PC case for filament and tool storage though...

That's one thing.
But also then you need to make sure the "old pc" NEVER goes to sleep while printing or the print will stop.
And I also read somewhere that sending a large file to the printer (streaming), not saving it to the sd-card, from time to time fails because the USB is not stable enough. I said I've read that, not that I experienced that.

also if the computer decides to do an update it can ruin your print...

Don't think that would happen when loaded with Linux which would be the best option.
