Updating Rambo Firmware
Struggling to install latest firmware to my Prusa i3. There seems to be a number of options but all have frustrating holes in them, and none of which actually work.
First off you according to the Prusa3d documentation you can use the "firmware updater" and simply install the hex file directly.
The problem with that solution is that the Prusa3d Firmware Updater is nowhere to be found. The Drivers/Download page mention it but there's no link to download it? I'm on Linux anyhow so assume that it might be a Windows Application so maybe we'll leave that method.
So instead of using the hex file directly I can install the Arduino IDE, yes yet another IDE on this computer to install the hex file to the Rambo 1.3a
NO you can't do that! You can't use the Arduino IDE to install a hex file.
OK So I'll git clone all the code for the controller and follow the simple instructions to build the Firmware Project / Sketch and upload it using Yet Another IDE.
Unfortunately all that has resulted in is a bricked Rambo 1.3a
So perhaps this is Instruction 3: Install the arduino addon in root of this repo
That leaves me with a root folder containing:
Firmware
hex_files
LICENSE
marlinAddon
README.md
Is that correct? Is it the marlinAddon I'm looking for? Is it in the right place?
If anybody could shed some light on this I'd be really grateful as at the moment my Prusa 13 is dead 🙁
Re: Updating Rambo Firmware
Hi John,
my understanding is that for Linux you need to follow the old method, the updater tool is a windows only application.
I do not use Linux on my main computer, however I found the Linux procedure in the comments of the old firmware update guide, here: http://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/Update+RAMBo+mini+firmware+%28OLD+method%29/11
I hope it will help you.
