Thermistor came off of heated bed during print

Hi!

My thermistor somehow was removed from the bottom of the heated bed during my print. I haven't had this printer long (< 1 month) so presumably this shouldn't be an issue I am encountering. I bought the pre-assembled version and it has worked great (until now).

During my print the thermistor came off the bottom of my heated bed:

So my heated bed reached the initial temperature and then fell off when it became disconnected a little bit into my print (as seen from image 3). The heated bed continued to heat due to the ambient reading and verification from my IR thermometer.

Is this something I can fix? My concern at the moment is without even getting the thermistor into the kapton tape seen in image1, image2, I can't get the thermistor probe to the center of the tape with the silver (insulation?). It doesn't appear long enough, and I assume that is the best place for accurate readings.

Can this be fixed by me? Do I need to contact support to get replacement parts? Ideally I'd like this solved by minimal intervention by me as I bought the pre-assembled version, so theoretically it should be assembled correctly.

Thanks, I also found this forum post which is exactly my problem.

I'm trying to move the thermistor back under the silver insulation but it doesn't seem like it will reach? I got this pre assembled so I would think that it should be able to fully reach the center of the bed.

Anyone have any advice?

If the wiring is not secured, it will "walk" into the rambo box. I think your wire length is there. Open the rambo box and see if you have excess wire there.

Looks like that's what happened, thanks. If someone else stumbles across this you can find how to remove the Rambo cover here http://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/8.+Electronics+assembly/110 .

What's the best way to snake it through the sheathing? Remove the zip ties and just push it through?

Glad I could help.

The best way to do it, is to remove the zip ties from both ends, and then "unwrap" the spiral wrap from the whole cable. Get the wiring the way you want it, and re-wrap the spiral wrap. This will take less time than trying to snake it through, and you will have a better result in the end.
