stop print destroyed print bed
Today I needed to stop a print.
Nothing special - I have to do it from time to time.
I even stoped it correctly via the menu.
But after moving up and to the left top corner it started to moves in the middle and crashed into the bed.
The display said:
Bed leveling failed....
And I now have a small hole in my print bed 🙁
The stop was right after the start.
I picked the wrong gcode from the SD and the printer wanted to start with the first calibration point while I stoped it.
I'm using the latest FW (3.0.10-RC1) and really curious if that is a bug or how this could even happen.
It's very strange I also stoped a couple of prints with that firmware and nothing like this happened.
All the other stops where during printing and not directly within the calibration process.
Is the little hole in the bed a problem?
Is the bed still heating correctly except of that small hole?
I'll definitely buy a new one but can I print during that time?
If someone can identify this as bug I would really appreciate to fix it soon to prevent further damage to other printers.

Can someone tell me if the hole affects the print bed?

You should post a picture of the hole otherwise it's impossible to tell.

sorry for the late response.

In the meantime I also printed on the bed without any issues.
Of course the risk of a failing print is higher when it has to print through that valley.
You also barley see the hole on the printed object.
The problem doesn't happened again since then.

Mine does this and it has the latest firmware. I think if you need to stop the print immediately after starting then I think a power off is needed until a fix is put in place.

Yes, ysterday I had an similar issue.
I had to cancel a print because the object became loose. After then the x-axis moves to max. x and moves on 😮 , hitting the end an more, rattling the belt, so i press the x-button (emegerncy cancel).

Just had the exact same problem. Total "yikes!" moment. Time to update firmware.

Same here... read the 3.0.10 notes and it was supposed to fix the Stop Print slams nozzle to bed issue. Apparently the fix didn't fix it.
The 3.0.10 firmware really seems buggy. I've had other weird issues lately. ugh

I had this same issue. Cant get through the Selftest after X,Y endstops calibrate the Z motors slam the hotend into the bed. I am using firmware 3.0.10
Edit: To fix my issue I had to run the Z-Calibration first then the selftest calibration worked fine, (the instructions made it seem you start with Selftest though...)
