Something disconnected from heatbed
Hi everyone!
I got my Prusa i3 MK2S kit last week, and a few days ago I finished assembling and did a few prints!
Today I started a print and suddenly I'm hearing a noise from the back of the machine. A small cable disconnected from the heatbed. I looked at it, and it kinda looks like a LED, except it's not a LED. It's not glowing, and the LED of the heatbed is still in place and glowing. I touched it to see whether it's hot, and it's not.
Any idea what this is and how I can put it back in place?

It's the bed thermistor and it should live under the tape on the bottom of the bed.

Yes, and ensure the tape is firmly stuck down.

By the way, I did let the print continue despite the thermistor being out. (I temporarily zip-tied it to the main cable bunch so it wouldn't drag on surface.) I lowered the heatbed temperature to room temperature to avoid overheating (since it doesn't have a sensor to regulate it now.) The print seems to be going fine, it's PLA. My question: What's the significance of heating the bed when printing PLA?

Simply that some filaments need the heat to stick to the PEI sheet.
Theory is that when cool the models can then be removed fairly easily.
Some filaments (TPU) will stick to a cold bed and are a real PITA to get off unless you use something to reduce the adhesion.
