Skips steps
Have anyone else experienced that the printer skips steps, and if so what have you done to solve it?
The dragon is silced in Simplify3D
Layer hight 0.15
Top/bottom layers 6
Outline 3
Infile 20% fast honeycomb
Print speed 2600 mm/min
Max print speed 12 sek. pr. layer
Full speed on the fan from 2. layer

Hi Turbostar,
First guess: could you verify if the GT2-16T is still well tightened, it may get lose a bit after some movement.

Second guess is to ensure the grub screws on the belt pulleys are tight.
Third guess to switch to high power mode.

All belt and the screws are tight, I'll try to mark the location on them and run a print in high power setting

Hi,
Had same issue with this STL, but i used gcode from SD (preinstalled).
Didn't use hi- power then, wonder if it will be useful...
By the way, what is nature of hi-power and silent mode ? Why quality might be the issue in silence mode?

High power means more force. If there is some kind of mechanical issue, it might be overcomed by higher force.
If the printer works well in high power mode and fails in silent mode, the user should check mechanical state of the printer - seized bearings, correct geometry, properly tensioned belts (neither little nor too much). All moving parts must move smoothly and easily.
Stalled steps are sometimes also caused by too high printing speed on complex models, when motors cant handle high inertia forces.

High-Power mode allows more current to the stepper motors (they are current-limited) and they run with greater power and therefore are less likely to skip if they hit an obstruction or are over-accelerated.
However, high-power mode can also be quite noisy, so the Quiet mode has been introduced to the firmware.
Personally, I always use High Power mode (but for the Mk1, I customise the firmware to provide the current I know works) so that I reduce the possibility of failed prints.

I know that i have some things to be fixed, but I'm waiting for MK2 upgrade kit 🙂
