Ripped the temperature sensor from the hotend

Hi everyone.
I got my kit a few weeks ago and had fun building' it. Using it since then and solved a minor problem (Heatbedsensorcable pulled the sensor from underneath the heat-bed so that the print never starts) .
Last night i was printing without attending the print for a few hours. When i came back, the printed object was stuck under and around the hotend and was transformed into a huge blob of pla.
Than I possibly did everything wrong that could be done wrong I think... I ripped of the blob and in the process ripped of the temperature sensor from the hotend :o(
Now I have the sensor shell, some naked kable with something at the end (maybe the part that was in the shell) and a short blue cable.

So, there are two questions:

1. Where can I order the sensor with the cables? couldn't find it in the shop.
2. Do you guys use something to protect the hotend to be drowned in filament when something like this is happening?

Yup. I did that.

You can get the thermocouple from E3D website, or most places that carry the E3Dv6 Hotted. This is a common thing.

You fill find that it is very rare to get one of these tumors once you have the printer calibrated. Work on getting your first layer perfect and the this will not happen.

do you know by any chance what was shipped with the mk2s kit? is it the PT100 or the 104GT?
And DUDE! THEY HAVE SOCKS for that ,o)

the prusa i3 mk2/mk2s comes along with the ATC Semitec 104GT-2.

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...

The sock is a nice addition, but redo the PID calibration, as it holds heat well and the control loop needs to be recalibrated.

Personally, I cut off the nub at the bottom of the sock, so the entire nozzle sticks out, but the sock covers the rest of the hotend. Most people on this forum use it as is, but I thought the hole was too close a tolerance. I have no justification for my belief.

When you solder in the replacement, make sure to reroute your wires back under the extruder like the original. I was lazy and left it off the the side and the X-Homing crimped it each time. It worked for a month or so, then broke the wire internally creating problems. My own fault, which in retrospect was dumb, but it took me a while to realize the cause.
