Replacing stepper motor wires
I wasn't careful and accidentally screwed down my hot end fan into one of the extruder motor's wires. It got squished enough that the motor now just wiggles instead of rotating. I know how to fix this problem myself (replace the bad bit of wire) but I'm wondering if it's possible to replace *all* the wires by simply putting together a new bundle (with the correct connectors on either side). It would be nicer than trying to stuff heat shrink into that little wire channel.
So my question is this: Can the wire bundle coming out of the stepper motor be disconnected? I mean, it *looks* like it's a connector of some sort but I can't be 100% certain without taking it apart which I don't want to do. I don't want to just yank on it until something breaks... again (LOL).
Anyone know if you can disconnect the stepper wires without having to take it apart? I mean, I can take it apart but it looks like that sucker is one solid piece. I don't think it would be a simple matter of loosening the screws.

Late reply, but I checked myself and there is no connector where wires are going into the motor. I have a faulty wire somewhere on the way to extruder motor.

Yes, sadly there is not a connector on the motor end. But to alleviate the problem of having the splice in that small channel, I'd splice in a section of new wire and locate the splices outside of the small channel. Then the other constraint is to make sure your splices do not get bent repeatedly back and forth, so put the splices where they are supported and stationary. There is a little slack in the overall harness, so you can pull enough to make a bit of a loop at the motor end.

Hopefully the issue is outside the motor.
as a last ditch solution, you could open the motor and investigate replacing the wires all the way from the windings to the plug...
be aware that the motor wires need to be flexible... I suggest you use silicone insulated flexible wires as used on remote control cars...

the existing wires should have the size written in the wire maybe 24AWG.... check before ordering!
use heatshrink sleeve to protect the joints

My dog chewed up the X-axis motor wires... What is the gauge, and type of wire that I can order to replace the wiring? Does anyone know?
