Removing Extruder Heater from body
Hi all,
I had an unfortunate accident where the holder for the PINDA probe broke. Apparently it smashed itself into the design for some reason. So I have ordered a replacement for the extruder body from a local 3D print shop. However, I somehow can't seem to remove the extruder heater from the body. The little plastic shaft that guides the filament into the heater is still stuck inside it and I am a bit scared to use brute force. Is there an 'easy' way to remove the heater from the body?
Re: Removing Extruder Heater from body
Maybe a little heat gun like a hair dryer and using plier while securing the plastic in a vise with a towel around it ?

Re: Removing Extruder Heater from body
I tried using a regular heat gun, but to no avail. So rather than replacing it entirely, I tried making some ABS glue and put the original part back together. Hope this works, else I fear I may have to try and brute force it out if no one else has any ideas.
Re: Removing Extruder Heater from body
In rc racing we heat and cool things down for engine sleeves that get stuck, suggest that you put some heat on the plastic body first, not to the melting point of plastic, have a temp gun that would help something that can read to 300C.
Keep the extruder as far away as possible from the heat, and have some cold spray the ones they use for electronics nearby, once heated put some spray on a cloth and damp the extruder immediately and try it may work.

I'm having the exact same problem right now. Were you able to find a solution?
Re: Removing Extruder Heater from body
The PTFE tube should not be melted in the extruder mount if thats what your talking about... It just is plastic on plastic, nothing else. Just pull and twist, your probably not pulling hard enough. I think a heat gun would only cause more problems. Pull with force is the best option.
