pronterface pausing
So I got my printer back and it's now fixed again, but when I use pronterface to print my slicer g.code on the really long print it just pauses and never resumes, what's up with that?

Hi Scott,
There could be various causes there. Firstable, does this happens when you print from SD card ? Is Pronterface itself freezed ? Can you see the temperature being updated ? A lot of things can happens on computer side during long printing (energy saving, hotfixes scan and installation, antivirus ...). What Operating System are you using ? What do you mean by long printing ? more than 24 hours ?
Personally, staying away from automatic hotfix installation (and reboot !) was the first reason that pushed mr to the Octoprint way, but this particular issue is probably not yours here, since you can see Pronterface.

No SD printing. Temp stays the same, i'm using windows 8, long printing meaning 5 hours+. What's octoprint?

Hi Scott
+1 for Octoprint (search for OctoPi or OctoPrint). When printing from a PC via a USB cable, there are a whole load of things that can go wrong (even PC going to sleep or power saving settings can cause the problem you describe).
Get the file to the SD card, print from there and see if it prints OK. If it does, then the problem is PC related.

Will do. So if something is printing from your sd card, it wont stop?

If it does, then the issue is probably printer side (can also be g-code issue).
Octoprint is a special software with capabilities (and more!) of printerface, but that usually run on a Raspberry class SoC, which eliminate impact on your print from computer issues.
