Re: Problem with first layer

No. You have calibrated with a first layer of 0.15mm, so that should be your first layer height setting.

The slicer will always calculate the exact amount of filament to extrude for the layer height. So if you set your first layer to 0.2mm, you will extrude 33% more filament than with a first layer (sliced) at 0.15mm. But the firmware will still print the first layer at what it thinks is 0.2mm, but is actually 0.1mm

You will end up with almost 100% over-extrusion on the first layer if you slice it at 0.2mm.

You may have seen that I have calibrated my printer differently; this is the reason why. I really don't want to be stuck with using specific slicers.

OK, that explains why my first layer always looks a bit rough, with nozzle-scars all over it, and the rest of the layers looks perfect.
The first layer sticks very well to the build plate now at least 🙂
